Mél Hogan’s Data fix podcast

Mél Hogan (@mel_hogan@mstdn.ca) is a professor of film and media studies who also produces the The Data Fix podcast. The podcast is a project arising from something perhaps ineffable that broke during the COVID pandemic. It’s intended to be raw and vulnerable as well as way for Hogan to craft a forthcoming book–a “thinking and feeling” for a way through.

Professor Hogan interviewed me about my research on electronic waste for a recent episode of The Data Fix. In the interview we talk about mining, manufacturing, materials, recycling, chemicals, and more. The conversation we have is helping me think through how to frame my own work in new and different ways as I turn my attention increasingly to the ‘upstream’ discards of pollution and waste arising from the electronics sector globally.
